Filters allow you to view specific subsets of your top-priority patient events to mirror your care coordination workflows. Most importantly, filters allow you to set up real-time email and text alerts on these subsets of events!
You can apply filters instantly to customize your view, or create saved filters to automatically enable notifications and give you quick access to these patient event subsets each time you log in.

Saved Filters Overview
All saved filters will appear on the left panel of the Patients page. Any saved filters you create will be specific to your account and won’t appear on your colleagues’ dashboards.
You can filter your data with a number of filterable criteria, as outlined below:
- COVID-19
- CURRENT STATUS
- ONGOING HHA SERVICES
- FACILITY NAME
- FACILITY STATE
- FACILITY TYPE
- SETTING
- CURRENT FLOOR/UNIT
- DIAGNOSES
- PRIOR DIAGNOSES
- ADMITTED FROM
- DISCHARGED TO
- CURRENTLY BILLING
- EVENT DATE
- VISIT DURATION
- BAMBOO HEALTH FLAG
- PROGRAM
- PRACTICE
- PROVIDER
- CARE COORDINATOR
- GENDER
- AGE
- CITY
- ZIP CODE
Filters are additive. You can narrow or broaden your patient list by applying multiple criteria.
-
Within a single filter category, OR logic applies.
Example: Selecting both Admitted and Discharged under Current Status shows patients with either status. -
Across different filter categories, AND logic applies.
Example: Selecting Presented under Current Status and a specific facility under Facility Name shows only patients who match both.
How to Create a Saved Filter
- Click Set Up Filters and Notifications
- Choose the filter criteria for your top-priority patient events
Tip: When it comes to creating your saved filters, less is more! The less criteria that you select, the more patient notifications you receive. We suggest starting with filter criteria under Current Status, Ongoing HHA Services, Setting, Bamboo Health Flags, and Programs.
- Once you've selected your filter criteria, click Create at the bottom of the saved filters panel.
-
Then, name your saved filter and click Save
- Your new filter will now be listed under My Saved Filters!
Note: When you create a saved filter, you’ll automatically be prompted to enable email and/or SMS notifications. Turning on real-time push alerts for your top-priority patient events is one of our top recommended best practices across our user community. If you prefer not to receive notifications, just click Save on the filter notification setup page to save your filter without notifications enabled.
Preset Filters
Bamboo Health has designed two preset filters to help you more easily manage the patient population most relevant to you.
- All Patients: Surfaces all patients currently admitted to your organization, as well as those discharged within the past 90 days.
- Currently Admitted: Focuses exclusively on patients who are actively receiving care from your organization.
Manage Your Saved Filter
There will be a gear icon to the right of each saved filter you create, allowing you to easily manage your filter settings. When clicking the gear, you will see the following menu options:
-
Edit Filter Criteria: allows you to make changes to your filter criteria
-
Export Filter Results: allows you to export those patient events that match your saved filter criteria. This will pull only those patients who match your saved filter criteria at the time you run the export.
-
Set as Default Filter: ensures that you automatically are brought to this filtered view, including new patient events that match the criteria you’ve selected, each time you log in.
-
Rename: Allows you to rename your saved filter.
- Delete: Deletes your saved filter.
